Some bands have a sound. Some have a look. Some have a personality.
Absofacto, apparently, comes out the gate with all of the above completely established.
This particular experimental pop band consists of just one man; Jonathan Visger, a singer-songwriters from Alpena, MI. Visger has been in many bands over the years but Absofacto was created as a safe house for all the ideas that didn't fit into those groups. (Absofacto is actually the side-project of his band Mason Proper.)
It was surprising to find Absofacto on bandcamp, a site that is usually the hub of up and coming artists, because everything about the band is so well established. There's the high quality production and soundwriting, that ends up sounding like a more hyperbolic version of The Shins covering Radiohead songs. There's those stunning album covers and banners designed by graphic design collective The Silent Giants. And most surprisingly there's the sheer amount of material that's been posted. The guy is obviously quite prolific.
I won't be posting it all here: you can listen to most of it right on his bandcamp page yourself, but, here is his latest full-length album, Sinking Islands, to stream till your heart's content. The album is only $8, if you wanna purchase.
Also, here is the music video for his track The Stupidest Things.
